And the Winners Are...

About 90 people made it to the two contest screenings MCAT held at the Missoula Public Library on May 5th. Six winners for two contests were awarded $1600 in prize money.
The top $500 award in the 9th Annual High School Film Festival went to Ryan Schmitz for Black Out, Teirsa Nash won a $200 Second for her entry A New Image, and the $100 Honorable Mention went to Jana Rafferly for animated entry Create for Life.
The brave souls who completed a movie in 72 hours or less saw the top $500 prize go to Bachelorette, The Movie by Austin Valley and Kyle McCaffey, two MCAT producers who have been MCAT producers for over 14 years. Sergei Boutenko and Briana Lescher won the $200 Second Place award for Zombie Boogie, and Honorable Mention, including $100, went to Tyler Wittenberg for The Family. ALL participants in Do It in 72 received a free commemorative T-Shirt and a DVD of the submitted collection of shorts.
Altogether 46 short films were viewed in the festival screenings, representing the work of over 100 local filmmakers. We are really grateful to everyone who produced worked and came to the event on Saturday, May 7 as supporters and audience for MCAT's annual filmmaking contests.
